Some of the best patterns repeat in organic ways. Some natural shapes have an affinity to play with the negative space in ways that can please the eye. Why is it organic geometries can be so captivating? Is it because we more easily see the harmony in patterns that resemble natural and organic arrangements?

Small structures, like diatoms, inspire these illustrations... creating a field of playful forms that vary in idiosyncratic ways, yet all share a commonality.

These free-hand drawings suggest form using simple linework, and explore the animate nature of free-form line.
